Goodyear Unveils Second Generation of Assurance WeatherReady All-Season Tire
Goodyear has officially launched the second generation of its popular Assurance WeatherReady all-season tire, bringing enhanced performance and durability to the market. Building on the success of its predecessor, the Assurance WeatherReady 2 continues to offer the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certification, making it a reliable choice for drivers facing diverse weather conditions. With a focus on family sedans and crossovers, this new tire is designed to fit most production vehicles and offers improvements in several key performance areas.
Superior Performance in In-House Testing
According to Goodyear, the Assurance WeatherReady 2 outshined its competitors during rigorous in-house testing. When pitted against leading rivals such as the Michelin CrossClimate2, Bridgestone WeatherPeak, and Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive, the WeatherReady 2 demonstrated superior performance in wet handling, wet braking, and dry handling. These tests, conducted using tire size 245/60R-18 105V, showed that the WeatherReady 2 not only meets but exceeds the performance standards of other all-season tires on the market. However, Goodyear notes that on-road results may vary depending on individual driving conditions.
Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) Certification
Like the first-generation model, the Assurance WeatherReady 2 carries the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certification. This designation indicates that the tire has successfully passed acceleration testing in medium-packed snow, achieving at least 110 percent of the traction of an all-season reference tire. While this certification positions the WeatherReady 2 as an all-weather tire, drivers should still consider dedicated winter tires for the most challenging winter conditions, as they typically offer superior control and safety in extreme cold and snowy environments.
Redesigned Tread Pattern and Wear Gauge
One of the key features of the new Assurance WeatherReady 2 is its redesigned tread pattern, which includes a built-in wear gauge. This gauge allows drivers to easily monitor the tread life of their tires, ensuring optimal performance and safety over time. The innovative tread design is engineered to maintain traction and stability across a variety of road conditions, making it a dependable choice for year-round driving.
Availability and Warranty
The Assurance WeatherReady 2 is available in 58 different sizes, ranging from 16 to 22 inches in wheel rim diameter, making it compatible with a wide range of vehicles. To provide additional peace of mind, Goodyear offers a 60,000-mile tread-life limited warranty with the purchase of these tires, underscoring the brand’s commitment to durability and customer satisfaction.
